Research

Research across the University of Cambridge directly and indirectly addresses issues in the development, implementation and understanding of public policy. This takes the form of research on the policy process and policy implementation, as well as policy research that support works in other areas such as engineering, education, health or economics. Please see the Links page for some of the groups involved in ongoing policy related research.

Public policy research was recently awarded a Strategic Research Initiative (SRI) by the University of Cambridge, which is a mechanism for developing a network of research across the University and building on the existing work across the University. Further details for the SRI can be found here.

The initial themes for the SRI include –

  • The use of expertise and evidence in the policy process and public decision making
  • The interaction of new technologies and governance
  • Distributive justice and policy making

Cambridge Public Policy has strong links to governments, NGOs and industry and is continuing to develop practice-led research that will have an impact on the development and implementation of policies at the national and international level.
